- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion and green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Toast the hamburger buns lightly if desired.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the buns and serve warm.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- You can substitute ground turkey for a leaner option.
